FAQs

I’ve never talked to anyone. I’m used to handling things on my own. Aren’t people who go to therapy weak?

Not at all. People who ask for help know when they need it and have the courage to reach out. Everyone needs help every now and then. In our work together, I’ll help you explore and identify your strengths and how to implement them to reduce the influence of the problems you are facing. Also, one of the things that I absolutely love about hypnotherapy sessions is that they truly teach how to take back full control and obtain ultimate decision making power within your life.

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a natural state of being when your brainwave activity is at the Alpha - Theta border between 7Hz to 8Hz. Most people do not realize that this occurs naturally multiple times of day to everyone! Yep EVERYONE has experienced being in hypnosis. Being in the state of hypnosis unintentionally occurs as you're waking up and drifting off to sleep, it occurs during those moments when you are driving and you reach your destination and have no clue as to how you got there, and when you're completely engrossed in a trance like state while watching a suspenseful movie. These are just a few of the times that we are naturally in a state of hypnosis.

What’s the difference between talking to you or my best friend or family?

The difference is between someone who can do something, and someone who has the training and experience to do that same thing professionally. A mental health professional can help you approach your situation in a new way– teach you new skills, gain different perspectives, listen to you without judgment or expectations, and help you listen to yourself. Furthermore, counseling is completely confidential. You won’t have to worry about others “knowing my business.” Lastly, if your situation provokes a great deal of negative emotion, and you’ve been confiding in a friend or family member, there is the risk that once you are feeling better you could start avoiding that person so you aren’t reminded of this difficult time in your life.

Taking medication?

I personally am a strong advocate for utilizing as many naturally healing methods as possible before turning to processed medications. I continue to study, research, and test diligently so that I am able to provide you with multiple natural healing options during each session. However, I also highly encourage you to discuss any medication questions regarding current use and/or potential future use with your general practitioner, as I am not at liberty to advise on prescription medication.

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic approach, applied by a trained practitioner, who makes use of hypnosis to identify and treat various problems such as, past traumas, bad habits, physical ailments, and much more.

How does it work? What do I have to do in sessions?

At the start of your session we will go over your completed intake form, I will perform a couple of demonstrations for you to see how easy it is to go in and out of hypnosis and to see how suggestible your mind is, and I will answer any questions you may have prior to starting. Because each person has different issues and goals for counseling, each session will be different depending on the individual. I tailor my therapeutic approach to meet your specific needs.

How long will it take?

Each session is typically 90-120 minutes, and you will leave each session with immediate relief, a new perspective on life, and some great tools/techniques to use moving forward. To further assist with the completion of your rapid transformation you will receive a 10-15 minute personalized recording that you will want to listen to for the 21 days following your session.

What is Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT)?

Rapid Transformational Therapy is essentially therapy on speed. With one session, you go into a state of deep relaxation and reflection to heal past traumas.

I want to get the most out of therapy. What can I do to help?

I am so glad you are dedicated to getting the most out of your sessions. Your active participation and dedication will be crucial to your success.

Will I feel 'hypnotized'?

Do NOT expect to feel 'hypnotized'. Many people come thinking that there is something about hypnosis which is markedly different from their normal state of consciousness. They may have seen a stage hypnotist and are basing their understanding on that. This is definitely not the case.  A light trance/hypnotic state will likely feel no different from relaxation.  In fact, you will be more aware in hypnosis.  There is no right or wrong way to experience hypnosis. You don't go anywhere, and many people don't realize they are in hypnosis until they come out of it. Expect to feel deeply relaxed during your session.

Will I lose control of myself?

ABSOLUTELY NOT! You are in full and complete control. Your minds job is to protect you, so it will only accept the suggestions that are given if you feel it is in your best interest to do so.
